Believe me if you are going to try it for the first time, I am sure you will make it a main dinner dish that you will love to enjoy at least once a week.
The creamy sauce in this delicious keto crack chicken recipe is unlike any other! Made of cheeses and ranch seasoning that pair so perfectly with the bacon.
And the most exciting part is that you can prepare this keto crack chicken without any intervention from you, just let it cook in the Crock Pot or oven (your choice of course), and raise your hand completely! You can make dinner while you are busy with something else and this makes this dinner practical.

What Is Crack Chicken?
Crack chicken is a delicious combination of chicken, bacon, cheese, and ranch dressing that you can prepare and enjoy as an easy, delicious and filling meal throughout the week.
What really distinguishes this dish is that it is creamy, cheesy, light and can be prepared in just a few minutes, and it contains simple and low-carb ingredients.
Plus, you can choose how to bake this keto crack chicken, whether in the oven or using a slow cooker or instant pot if you prefer.
What Ingredients Are Needed To Make This Keto Crack Chicken?
For the chicken:
- 4 small chicken breast fillets
- Salt and pepper
- Garlic powder
- Butter
For the cream cheese filling:
- Cream cheese
- Spice mix (To create a ranch seasoning mix, combine the following ingredients including onion powder, garlic powder, dried dill, salt, and mustard powder).
For the topping:
- Bacon
- Olive oil
- Cheese (You will need a mixture of cheddar and mozzarella cheese to cover the keto crack chicken before baking it in the oven).
Steps To Make Keto Crack Chicken (very simple)
- Using olive oil, start frying the bacon in a skillet until fully cooked through and crunchy.
- Add the butter to the same skillet (without cleaning it) and add the marinated chicken breast pieces that have been seasoned with salt and black pepper.
- Cook and flip the chicken until it’s no longer pink – then transfer to a 9″ x 13″ baking dish and pour over it the remaining fat in the skillet.
- Whisk the cream cheese and spice mix together until smooth.
- Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly over the chicken breast fillets with a spoon, making sure it covers the entire top.
- Finally, cover everything with the shredded cheese and pre-fried bacon, and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is golden brown.
The Best Way To Bake Keto Crack Chicken
As I previously stated, you can bake keto crack chicken in a variety of ways. I prefer baking it in the oven, but it can also be baked in an Instant Pot or a slow cooker.
If you choose the slow cooker, I recommend shredding the chicken and combining everything together for maximum flavor!
Preparing keto crack chicken in an instant pot:
First prepare the cream cheese mixture and chop the bacon.
Then add the marinated chicken breast fillet to the bottom of the preparation pot and brush with cream cheese.
Sprinkle the fried bacon and grated cheese on top and cook over high heat for 15 minutes.
Preparing keto crack chicken in a slow cooker:
In the bottom of the slow cooker, add the chicken breast fillets completely covered with the cream cheese and cook on low for 8 hours or on high for 4 hours.
Then remove the lid and use two forks to shred the chicken – add the bacon and cheese, cover the pot again and let everything cook for 10 minutes.
Tips For Making The Best Low Carb Cracker Chicken
- Do not over-fry the chicken because in the oven it will finish cooking. It’s important to note that the chicken is ready after it reaches an internal temperature of 165°C.
- If you are not on a tight diet, you can use packaged ranch seasoning, which is commonly accessible in the market.
- You can store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to three days, covered well. Heat in an oven (preheated) or in the microwave for 20 seconds until completely heated up.
- Although many say that cooked chicken can be frozen in the refrigerator for up to 6 months, I personally do not prefer it. I advise you to cook crack chicken and enjoy it right away.
- You can easily double this crack chicken recipe to serve more guests – even if they aren’t on a keto diet, they will love it.
- In this recipe I used chicken breasts, but boneless and skinless chicken thighs will also work, but in this case you may need to reduce the cooking time a bit.
